This week, our nursery and preschool children have been learning all about online safety in a fun and age-appropriate way.
Using the familiar tune of Old MacDonald Had a Farm, we talked about how phones and tablets can be lots of fun, but it’s important to use them safely.

Old MacDonald had a phone, E-I-E-I-O,
And on his phone he had a… NO!
If something doesn’t feel right, tell a grown-up you know!

The children explored simple messages around:

Keeping personal information private
Telling a trusted grown-up if something worries them
Asking permission before using devices
Being kind and respectful online
We love making important messages memorable through songs, stories and play, helping our little ones build safe and positive habits from an early age.

Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Stanway

Pre-School went on a special visit to Loganberry Lodge to visit the elderly. We put on our high vis jackets so that it was clear we were part of the nursery and we held hands all the way there. On the way, we were very careful crossing the roads, and we looked left and right before crossing the roads. We listened in case there were cars coming. We talked about the names of the roads which we noticed were rectangle shaped signs. We saw bus stops and crossed a zebra crossing, where the cars waited for us all to cross safely. We made sure our hands were held all the time. When we got to Loganberry Lodge, we stayed downstairs at first and sang songs for the residents. One of the residents sang to us. We then were asked to go upstairs. We went upstairs two at a time and made sure we held on tight to the stair rail and to our teachers hands. We counted the stairs as we went up them. Once we were upstairs, we played with blocks and tiles. The residents watched us and we showed them some of the things we built. We sang twinkle twinkle little star to them. When we left we went down the stairs and counted each step. We held into the stair rail and our teachers hands. we walked back slowly down the long corridor and said goodbye to all the residents. As we walked home we saw a fire engine with blue flashing lights and we made sure we crossed the roads safely by looking left and right and listening for cars. We saw a really big bus. Once we got back to nursery, we took off our reflective jackets and just had time to wash our hands before tea.
